“I used to always see things in the outside world as being ‘the enemies of an artist’. I don’t see it that way anymore. To me, everything an artist needs is inside of himself, and it really doesn’t matter what’s going on in the world. Nothing else matters. You don’t need to have things perfect, you don’t need to have a lot of money or a beautiful girl. If your job in life is to create, you can find inside yourself what you need to make beautiful art and beautiful music. But you might have to clean yourself out, spiritually or physically. You gotta constantly purify yourself, living in the city, around human beings. There might be people close to you who affect you inside yourself in such a corrupt way that it screws with your ability to do what you do. But if you make sure that the people who are close you are good people who are there for you and love you, you can create your temple everywhere you go.” —john frusciante (via pushkin)

The Future Of Music Business Models (And Those Who Are Already There) → j.mp

(via artistspaid)

This is so true- which is why I’m amazed that Beatport and some of the electronic music shops charge so much. If they didn’t I don’t think the .torrents of their top 100 releases would even exist.  Bandcamp FTW!

Flexitarianism is a semi-vegetarian diet focusing on vegetarian food with occasional meat consumption. A self-described flexitarian seeks to decrease meat consumption without eliminating it entirely from his or her diet. There are no guidelines for how much or how little meat one must eat before being classified a flexitarian. Flexitarian is distinguished from polpescetarian, i.e., one who eats only chicken and fish, but does so exclusively. [1]

That’s me! I love that there are terms for anything.

If you were given an ipad what would you use it for?

I would install Touch OSC on it and use it as a midi controller. Which is a reason why I actually would think it would be fun to own one– I think the music apps are going to be stellar in this platform and will change how electronic music is performed since it’s much more affordable than Jazzmutant’s Lemur (around $2000).

iPad

iPad = A good laptop replacer for moms.

Slightly temping for electronic musicians who want new interfaces at a good price point too.

Though I am excited for the other laptop makers to come up with their own versions of the iPad that aren’t tethered to proprietary online mp3/movie/book shops. I do think its neat- but did I pee my pants? Not one bit. Lets see what this inspires from the competition.
